What a great question! I think Sadiq Onifade is the songwriter/producer/creator behind the scenes and WurlD is the artist/brand.

Please tell us about your hometown. How are your roots a part of who you are, especially in your music?

My family’s hometown is Ogun State, Nigeria, but I was born and raised in Lagos. Lagos is beautiful, rugged, fast, intense and has some of the most resilient people I’ve met anywhere in the world. The energy of Lagos is unlike any other place I’ve lived.

What are some misconceptions some people may have about you?

I consider myself African in the music industry. People automatically think everything I do is Afrobeat until they listen to my music and observe the overall sound range. I am an African born artist making world music.
