Redesigning, upgrading, or redoing a wedding ring is a very personal decision, and there are many reasons why someone might want their wedding ring redone. As styles and tastes change, some women may want to update their look. If they get divorced, they may want to change the symbolic meaning of the ring and perhaps pass it on to their children.

Joy’s story

When my husband and I got married, we were just 19 and 20 and didn’t have much money. Thankfully, I was able to use a diamond inherited from my grandmother. Fast forward 27 years to this May. I was sitting at my computer looking down at my hand and seeing the main diamond falling out of the ring. I was devastated and frantically searched everywhere and prayed for several days.

During that time my husband always told me he wanted to invest in me to upgrade my ring and now that my financial situation is better I felt it was time to do so. Did. Once we agreed to proceed with the creation of the ring, we began our investigation. I’m a researcher at heart and I love it. The downside is that I tend to over-research! I searched Pinterest, online-only jewelry stores, brick-and-mortar stores, and Etsy. I had read their reviews too! People will say “I love this place! Best experience ever!” and the next person will say “Don’t trust this store!”. It was a very expensive purchase and I didn’t want to be taken advantage of. I felt numb. I decided to take a break for a few days as the spark of excitement had died down…

To get started, here are some questions to ask yourself when deciding what you want or looking for inspiration.

The process of upgrading your wedding ring

Since Bonnie was in California and I was in Texas, I was offered two processes. I was able to work with Bonnie on her Zoom to make a ring, or visit her store to meet in person. The online process has received glowing reviews from clients as Bonnie and her team create an effortless and seamless process.

The in-person consultation made me feel very special and it was a truly magical day.My husband and I received a warm welcome from Bonnie. She showed me to a table holding three loose stones surrounded by velvet holders. She sat with us and walked us through each stone and explained each detail. I was able to try it on too. Once I decided on a stone, I moved on to other options such as metal type, ring settings, and band width. She kindly and knowledgeably answered any questions we had along the way and made the process really easy!

After figuring out all the details, we celebrated with complimentary champagne. How long did it take?

This was the hardest! So excited to get my new ring! It took six weeks for the ring to be completed. It was shipped overnight and arrived safely in a ring box, inside two bubble mailers and inside a large box. A blue velvet ring box greeted me. Bonnie’s attention to detail continued right to the end. Such a great experience!
