Otis 3rd Birthday – Garbage Truck and Rainbow Themed Birthday Ideas

So… this post is a little late. I blame the craziness of cross-country moves!!! This party was the last hooray before leaving home! So wild. We had a little get-together outside in the backyard with Otis’ best friends. Of course, Blake said, “DONT GO OVERBOARD,” but you know, I always go a little crazy. There is nothing wrong with pampering our little ones. It was easy to combine two of Otis’ favorites: Trash Trucks and Rainbows. I didn’t have a lot of time to spend with my newborn this year, so I knew that whatever I planned had to be easy to execute. So instead of taking on all the outsourced DIY. MeriMeri always has a great selection of party favors to mix and match. They had a lot of primary rainbow paper goodies and some killer rainbow balloon arches so I started there. created it for me. Balloon If he doesn’t have a pump and you plan to make a balloon arch, stop working. buy nowIt’s a game changer. The next step is to decorate the garbage truck. In fact, he found a shop on Etsy that sells artwork from the Trash Truck show. Otis loved it and went on to call it a “funny garbage truck.” So I asked him if he wanted the Funny Trash truck for his birthday and of course he said yes. He was selling patterns for purikura signboards, so I bought that as well as some artwork to make a hanging garland. He sent these files to his local printer and printed them to create signs and garlands. This saved a lot of time, but it still made the party a really fun DIY element for him. The cake was another simple project he outsourced to a local supermarket. I bought a small garbage truck toy on Amazon, took it to the bakery at the grocery store, and showed him an inspiring photo of the truck throwing sprinkles on the cake. I ordered cupcakes so I saved the cake for a family member’s birthday and sang for him at night.Cupcakes are easier than chopping up a cake and handing it out.Chips for kids, goldfish , We had grab bag snacks including veggie sticks, juice boxes and beverages for adults. I ordered the pizza which is always popular with everyone. A friend of mine had a few pallets and knew they would make perfect children’s tables. I pulled it. I made a bouncy house for entertainment and it was a big hit! Another special treat for all the children was the gift bags that Waste Management provided for each of Otis’s companions who came to the party. They kindly send me a bag with some goodies inside. Basically, Otis had a lot of fun (after the first meltdown when everyone entered his bouncy house!! TODDLER FEELINGS!) and was able to celebrate with some of his friends before the move.
