I’m back! I’m really happy that I can meet you again! 🥰 How was your summer?
After the summer break, I slowly got back into the swing of things.♥️ I wanted it so much. It’s gone by so quickly, but at the same time, July feels so far away. I think you have struck a good balance between “too much activity” and “not enough activity”. We traveled quite a bit, but also had some wonderful slow down times with family and friends.
On Wednesday, I’m heading to Michigan with a bunch of friends for our second annual Lake House trip (and all our kids – 12 adults and 9 kids under 3, I think. We lost our minds.) I’m so excited – we had so much fun last year (we thought we were crazy at the time, but last year some friends added us to the mix increase the number of children who live and all babies are toddlers now 😂 please pray for us.)
Anyway, I’m not quite back to my normal posting schedule yet (I’m aiming to get back after my trip to the lake house – squeeze in another week out of summer!) In the meantime, Just wanted to share a small snippet of a photo…from the summer. Alright, let’s go! Starting in early June!
Life these days: summer roundup
We started the summer with two trips to visit my family in Oregon and stopped in Denver on the way back to visit friends! This is my niece. She and June are madly in love with each other and it’s the best. ♥️ (This was taken on her “Kindergarten Graduation” day.)
We didn’t have a birthday party in June, but we sang Happy Birthday 3 times with 3 different family groups! My sister made this sweet cake for me! She wasn’t sure about the cake, but loved it when everyone sang it to her!
Girl’s dad hiking in Denver! ♥️ (this hiking pack is awesome and highly recommended!)
On my real birthday in June!
It’s so crazy looking back at this photo because she looks so much older now than it was just a few months ago.😭
My birthday is a few days later in June. West Town Bakery(I highly recommend this!) June kissed me on my birthday. These days she is very stingy with them. 😂
Shaheen, Anna and i have to visit Ables Having headquarters in Nashville, to say it was an absolute treat would be an enormous understatement. I have fallen in love with their mission. They are simply an amazing brand and I am so proud to be one of their partners! , always 15% off!)
One of my favorite shots of summer.
June and her friends look like a cute little bunch of Rugrats. 😂 These four of hers were so much fun together. It’s so cool to see them all get over it and start interacting and developing their own friendships!
One of the highlights of our summer was definitely our camping trip. (early June!)
It wasn’t without its struggles😆 But it was a lot of fun and she loved it. It was very beautiful. You can’t even see her in this photo because June has fallen asleep too and is flipped over on her other side. 😆
Happy hour in the parking lot after the hike. (this hiking pack is awesome and highly recommended!)
Speaking of happy hour, I made the most of the daycare and sneaked in for a few happy hour dates before my pick up! (This is much easier than dinner and you don’t need to hire a babysitter!) queen mary One of our favorites in our neighborhood!
We went to Ada Street to celebrate my birthday. 🤯 Wearing my Elisa dress Elisa Mama and(Details here – there are still a few left!)
A random post-bus shot, but one of my favorites 😆 this one Little Bear Towel Robe cute.
Another big highlight of the summer was our trip to Ireland. It was a lot of fun. (My girlfriend’s two-part guide to Ireland coming soon!)
on the roof of New facility at Killarney Brewing & Distilling Just outside Killarney town!
Neal’s Uncle Liam is one of the founders, and several family members (including us) are investors, so we had to go to the investor weekend before the grand opening. It’s absolutely amazing and I can’t recommend stopping here enough. Their restaurant and rooftop are not to be missed.Of course, if you’re a whiskey or beer lover, you should take the tour. Coming soon to the public! 🙌🏼 (I’m wearing my maha leather jacket – get 15% off with code JESSKEYS20 – my jumpsuit is old – and amazon slides!)
Another big summer highlight: a trip to Lisbon Whitney Join us on a scouting trip to finalize details for Atlas Adventures Lisbon this October!
I found a cute public pool (Pulaski Park!) not far from my house!
Had a great patio night with Aunt Sissy (my SIL – we all call her Sissy) and discovered my love for tater tots. She lives very close and we are so grateful to have met her! Thanks to her, many of our day trips and overnight trips have been made possible.♥️
Speaking of Sissy, I love going to the bar where she works on Sundays!
(This portable highchair It’s really the best BTW. It can be free standing on the ground/table or secured to the back and bottom of a chair with two different straps. (Note the bar rag as a bib 😂)
The clutter in my house reached breaking point, so I cried purge/organize, but it felt so good. (the shirt is Madewell’s favorite!)
June left her sunglasses It’s on for about 2 minutes, so a big improvement 😂
Another neighborhood cocktail favorite: Smoke Daddy (our favorite BBQ spot and very kid friendly too!) – we loved their fresh watermelon cocktails!
I can’t stand those tiny feet😭 (I found her sandals on BuyBuyBaby!)
What felt like the first day of fall was Labor Day at the lake house. June’s sweatshirt has “Junebug” written on it. Ray and Z (It’s a brand owned by a local mom!) Save 20% with code JESSKEYS20 at checkout!
June and Nani on the beach. Nani was one of the MVPs of the summer. I couldn’t have done it without her and my girlfriend SIL helping out, especially during our trip!
I was watching Moana last weekend. She looks like a very big kid here. 😭 I didn’t realize that she really only had one summer to spend with her “baby”. While the fun increases with age, it’s also heartbreaking that babies are growing so fast and are already full-grown toddlers.
Last Friday night we did our annual staycation to celebrate our anniversary – 5 years!
We stayed at the Waldorf, where we got engaged – on this Circle Drive! You can see previous staycation recaps here!
Before I Leave You A few moments not captured on film for levity: Numerous sick days (last year in day care was an emergency course for my immune system) – the worst was hands, feet and mouth (that June passed me and everything else hurt so I only had Panera soup for 4 days I couldn’t eat ) to eat 😵), June vomited us many times due to motion sickness when we were on the plane or in the car, during a camping trip we got into a heavy downpour and I was in Ireland I was crying without June. Only wanted someone to be with me and not Papa, Nani, Sissy, or me, like the 15 month sleep regression we’re going through right now.🙃
There are certainly a lot of struggles with parenting, and planning with a toddler, traveling with a toddler, or even going on a trip is never the *easiest* choice (in fact, many If so, it’s the hardest choice!) over there From your toddler, and so on – but for us, it’s always worth it. These moments aren’t always captured, but remember I’m still with you!
Again, just a small collection of the best moments. I hope you enjoy walking down memory lane with me. I’m really sad that it’s already autumn, but I’m really grateful for making memories. Every summer with this girl gets better and better. ♥️ Hope you have a wonderful summer too!
